Seoul Yeoui-Naru Ferry Terminal

City meets Water: The Ferry Terminal Ecology Park aims to restore the essential connection between Seoul and the Han River. Over the years, the once integrated ecosystem has become segregated from the city due to hard-edged engineered shorelines and neglected riverfront sites. The proposed ferry terminal in Yeouinaru presents an opportunity to reconnect Seoul and the Han River effectively and create an iconic cultural landmark.
Not just a bridge, the Yeouinaru site serves as a starting point for the Green LOOP Park, providing circular forms that define the Ferry Terminal Ecology Park. The design prioritizes accessibility, linking the subway station, the terminal, and surrounding parks. As visitors walk along the elevated landscape, the scenery of Seoul gradually changes, offering breathtaking views of the city and the river. The layered park provides spaces for various events, creating a vibrant urban amenity.

and passive cooling spaces, providing a diverse mix of habitat parks, gardens, observatories, amphitheaters, and paths. The architectural and experiential journey from the city to the ferry terminal unfolds with choreographed moments that enhance the relationship between landscape and architecture.
The new Ferry Terminal, "The Droplet," becomes an integral part of Seoul's Masterplan proposal. Situated mostly on the water, it establishes a new connection with the Han River, becoming a transparent and glowing element, reflecting the water's colors during the day and acting as a lantern at night. The terminal's three primary floors offer observatory decks, ticket offices, and a connection to the water pontoon, providing a seamless link between the city and the water routes.
The terminal's design ensures smooth access for local commuters and departing passengers, creating a poetic interplay between the city and nature while reestablishing the critical link between Seoul and the Han River.
