The area of central Seoul which has been occupied by the US military since the Korean War will soon be reborn as Yongsan Park. The site’s long history as a military location – it was also used by the Japanese as a camp during their invasion - has seriously damaged and malformed its urban structure within Seoul. Consequently, the return of this site to Korea should consider its symbolic import and should be a space of aspiration as well as projecting a futuristic image as a world Class Park for the people of Seoul.
